Essex County Memorial Park
The Jorge Oliveira Memorial is a 7′ tall bronze statue which shows Oliveira in his military gear. This memorial honors the Portuguese native and New Jersey resident killed in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. The sculpture stands in Essex County Memorial Park at the corner of West Market St. and Wycliff St. in Newark, NJ.
Essex County Memorial Park is dedicated to the men and women who served their country in seven branches of the U.S. Military. At the center of the 2.7 acre park is a water fountain and monument. The monument displays the flags and seals of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Army National Guard and Air Force National Guard.
